Growing up on Africa’s Ivory Coast, spending time in southern France before relocating to the Netherlands, H-Sik has gathered his global influences of west African folklore, French rap and the multi-ethnic Amsterdam dance scene into one big melting pot, making for unique rhymic structures and sound. “One Shot” offers up these complexities in warm dotted synths and bassline of an almost Chicago footwork origin, stuttered by swirling percussion, sharp snares and summery delayed and chopped dub vocals. He’s also one half of the SHTRAK creative outlet with fellow compilation producer Moresounds.
